Responsible AI by design

From the initial application process through to the development of the final AI Adoption Plan, fellows are supported in integrating core Responsible AI principles, including:

• Privacy and data protection 
• Human oversight
• Mitigation of bias and discrimination risks
• Safeguarding vulnerable communities
• Governance and institutional accountability
• Transparency in decision-making
• Equitable AI adoption strategies that prevent the widening of digital divides

The Fellowship does not support use cases that create risks for vulnerable populations, including discriminatory profiling, unsafe automation in high-stakes services, or surveillance-led targeting. The program is designed to support organizations to adopt AI in ways that strengthen trust, uphold dignity, and maximize mission outcomes, while protecting the rights of the individuals and communities they serve.
